Re: The availability of early intervention services for children and adolescents with mental health problems
Neath Port Talbot has funded the following projects with Emotional Wellbeing money for the year 2013/14:
Emotional Literacy Support Assistants
Children’s Rights Based Approach – Young People Engagement (Domestic Violence, Substance Misuse and Mental Health)
Rights Respecting Schools Award – UNICEF Training
MIND – Youth Advice Project
School Counselling Service – provision within Youth Service
Cruse – proposal to be sought for provision to 3-8 yr olds
These were funded after an extensive mapping exercise of existing provision and a comparison with the needs of children and young people. The funding will fill some much needed gaps in provision.
Our concerns is that this funding is short-term and that there may not be further funding to continue this work. We would like to bring this issue to the Committees attention.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further clarification.
